August 2017

Health Week 2017

Held on the last week of Term 3, Health Week engages PL-lites to live a healthier lifestyle with activities, vendors, and special presentations. On 28 and 29 August, students were revitalised with a morning walk, challenged with a sandwich making competition, and treated to healthy food products sold by specialty vendors, Sogurt and Five Loaves. Anchoring all these fun activities with a holistic approach to health, our student health ambassadors gave insightful presentations on what it means to be mentally, physically and socially healthy.

Of course, having a healthy lifestyle should be extended even after health week! In line with PL’s Health Committee initiatives, Health Week also featured the launch of PL’s Free-to-Play scheme. Students may borrow sports equipment such as frisbees, table tennis paddles, and basketballs from the Masterpiece room for their own leisurely enjoyment throughout the year.

Please enjoy the photo montage showcasing the events from the two days.

Fathers@School - Cyberwellness

50 parents, from PL (Sec) and PL Pri 5 and 6 gathered for a workshop on Cyberwellness on 12 August 2017. Parents learnt about the Art and Science of Parenting in the Internet Age. It was an engaging time of learning where parents shared the challenges they encountered parenting their children with regards to screen time on information technology gadgets. The trainer, Mr Poh Yeang Cherng shared research based evidence on impact of information technology on learning and how parents can help guide their children to self-regulate usage of technology. It was a well-spent Saturday morning where parents acquired useful tips on how to parent their “digital natives” at home.
